Dad is now having a hard time breathing and is on medicine that he has to take to help. The doctors said his lungs are gone. I have told dad he should be getting compensation for this but Dad knows very little about what to do. What can he do to get the right papers and things filled out to get the help he needs? "I am a clinical social worker working with a woman who recently diagnosed with Mesothelioma in September.  My client is 50 years old and does not know when or where she may have been exposed to Asbestos.  She has stage IV Mesothelioma and will begin chemotherapy next week.  She is married and has a daughter.  I would like to speak with an attorney to discuss the options and resources available to her before I present her with the possibility of a lawsuit.  I would appreciate an attorney calling me to discuss this case.  From my minimal research, it seems that my client will die within one year or

"This is for my father who is still living but his quality of life for the past 10 years or so have been terrible. Unfortunately he has been working. If you can call it that, with a company recommended attorney and has gotten very little. For some reason, he would receive a check now and then over a period of a couple of years and to my knowledge, none over a thousand, others a hundred here maybe two or three other times. It's been a joke really, so I'm hoping that before he dies, he will be able to see something more for all he's gone through He is in the hospital now with advanced stages of COPD due to his exposure to asbestos while working at a steel plant in Huntington WVa. "I was diagnosed with Mesothelioma on May, 5, 2004. I have worked for over 25 years at a paint factory in a Chicago suburb. I felt a lot of pain in my chest this past January and had an x-ray to determine if anything was wrong. The x-ray showed nothing. I felt progressively worse and my breathing was labored so I had another x-ray in late April. This one showed a massive amount of fluid in my left chest cavity. I was told to go to emergency to have it treated. They removed about 1 liter of fluid from my left side but would not take all the fluid. I then sent to another specialist who took out the rest of the fluid (another liter)and conducted a biopsy of the tissue around the lining of my left lung. The result of the biopsy was that the entire bottom half of my left lung had Mesothelioma. They used a procedure called a "talc" to re-attach the top of my left lung and re-inflate it, but nothing could be done to re-inflate the bottom due to the scar tissue from the Mesothelioma. I would like to talk to a lawyer with offices in the Northwest suburbs about this situation." - George R, Des Plaines, IL

"My 79 year old father was diagnosed with Pleural Mesothelioma on March 22, 2004.  A biopsy, catscan, xray, and blood work were performed. The Cancer is inoperable as it has totally covered his left lung and penetrated into his lung.  He worked for the Navy Ship yard, was in the Navy for the Korean war, and worked a couple more years in the Navy shipyard when he got out of the Navy.  We also lived in a house for approx. 22 years that had blown in insulation that I believe also is a source of asbestos.  He has had 5 radiation treatments and now is waiting for 3 weeks before they take another chest xray to see if that has done anything.  Please contact me via email as that is the best way to contact me." - Cindy R. "My dad was admitted to Saint Barnabas Hospital in LivingstonN.J. Two to three weeks ago and within one week was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma. Within one week of his diagnosis, before treatment could even be started he passed away. He was a licensed plumber for appoximately 50 years. We just received the death certificate which stated his primary cause of death was malignant mesothelioma. "Diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma, Surgery on April 21,2004 to remove the omentum. This is where the gross part of the disease was located but I still have what was described as many seed like areas throughout the mesentery. Will be starting Chemotherapy in about 4 weeks after recoup from surgery. I was exposed to asbestos at the work place and would greatly appreciate any information." - George M, Lowell, MA
